Our pick: Entrance and Ride Pass for unlimited rides on the same day, free cancellation up to 24 hours before. Book now Compare the options
Tivoli on Vesterbrogade 3 in Copenhagen has been open since 1843 and had 4.25 million visits in 2024. Many visitors assume that the ticket at the entrance also gives access to Rutschebanen and the other rides. It does not. Entrance and rides are two separate products, and according to tivoli.dk the Ride Pass gives access to the rides, but not to the garden. So you need an entrance ticket, and if you want to go on the rides, you also need a Ride Pass or must buy individual ride tickets.
This guide explains the ticket types available, what the packages sold online include, and which tickets only give access to the garden. If you are bringing children, also read the guide to Tivoli with children, and check Tivoli’s opening hours and seasonsbefore choosing a date.
The short answer
An entrance ticket gives access to the Tivoli garden, but not to the rides. If you want to go on the rides, you need a Ride Pass (unlimited rides on the same day) or buy individual ride tickets inside the garden. The simplest solution is a ticket that combines entrance and Ride Pass, while the Copenhagen Card and the bus combination cover entrance without rides.

What Tivoli tickets are available?
There are entrance tickets without rides, entrance tickets with Ride Pass, packages with food and season tickets, and the Copenhagen Card and a bus combination cover entrance. The table shows what each of the eight tickets mentioned on the page includes.
The basic rule is simple: entrance and rides are separate. Some products combine the two, others give access to the garden and nothing else. The table below is based on what the providers themselves state. Prices vary by date and season, so they are not listed here; see the current price when you select a date.
Pay special attention to the Rides column. Three of the tickets in the table do not include any rides, and the two seasonal tickets for Halloween and Christmas must be read carefully, as explained further below.
| Ticket | Entrance | Rides | Food | Validity | Suitable for |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Entrance and Ride Pass | Ja | Yes, unlimited rides on the same day; certain seasonal rides and scary houses excluded | No | One day | You, if you want to go on many rides |
| Entrance only | Ja | No, Ride Pass or individual ride tickets are purchased inside the garden | No | One day | The garden, concerts, lights and food |
| Tivoli Extra | Ja | Yes, Ride Pass | An Easy Food meal at a selected restaurant | Entrance and meal on the same day | A full day with food included, not for children under 3 years |
| Halloween entrance and Ride Pass | Ja | Yes, but not Villa Vendetta and The Haunted House | No | 2 October - 1 November 2026 | Halloween with rides |
| Christmas in Tivoli | Ja | No, according to the ad's important information | No | 13 November 2026 - 3 January 2027 | Christmas market, lights and atmosphere |
| Copenhagen Card Discover | Ja | No | No | 24 - 120 hours | City break with many attractions and public transport |
| Hop-on hop-off bus and entrance | Yes, with a re-entry stamp | No | No | Bus for 24 hours | Sightseeing in the city and Tivoli on the same day |
| Bike tour in Copenhagen | No | No | No | 3 hours | The city highlights by bike, past Tivoli |
Are rides included in the Tivoli entrance?
No. An entrance ticket gives access to the garden. Rides require a Ride Pass or single-ride tickets, which you buy inside the garden, at the machines or in the Tivoli app.
This is the misunderstanding that costs most visitors time in the queue at the ticket machine. An entrance ticket without rides lets you into the garden, where you can walk around, see the lake and the lights, eat and listen to music. According to the advertisement, Ride Passes or single-ride tickets can be bought inside the garden, at the machines or in the Tivoli app, if you change your mind.
Conversely, the same applies: tivoli.dk states that the Ride Pass gives access to the rides, but not to the garden. If you buy the Ride Pass separately, you therefore also need an entrance ticket. For this reason, the two are often sold together, and the ticket with entrance and Ride Pass is the most straightforward option if you know you want to ride.

Entrance and Ride Pass in one ticket: scan the QR code and collect the wristband at the entrance.
Book nowWhen can a Tivoli Ride Pass pay off?
When you realistically plan to take more rides than the total cost of single-ride tickets. Count the rides you actually want to go on and check the height limits before you buy.
A Ride Pass gives unlimited rides on the day you are in Tivoli. Whether it pays off depends on how many rides you actually take. Prices vary, so compare the price of the Ride Pass with the price of the number of single-ride tickets you expect to use on the day you visit the garden. Also consider queue time: on a busy day you will get fewer rides than you think.
- Height restrictions: these are posted at each ride and vary. If your child is too small for the big rides, the Ride Pass is less valuable.
- Age: according to tivoli.dk, you need a Ride Pass from age 1 to go on the rides. Children under 1 do not need one.
- Exceptions: according to the ad, the Ride Pass does not cover certain seasonal rides or the two Halloween scary houses.
- Operational stops: rides may stop with short notice for technical inspections; in July 2026, several major rides were out of service for one day according to TV2 Kosmopol.

What is Tivoli Extra?
Tivoli Ekstra combines entrance, Ride Pass and an Easy Food meal at a selected restaurant. According to the ad, it also includes a discount voucher for the gift shop Little Tivoli.
Tivoli Ekstra with entrance, Ride Pass and meal is a package for you if you want to spend the whole day in the garden and have dinner arranged in advance. The menus and participating restaurants are listed on tivoli.dk. The entrance and meal must be used on the same day.
According to the ad, the package is not for children under 3 years. This also makes sense because children under 3 enter for free with a paying adult. If you have small children with you, a regular ticket with entrance and Ride Pass for the adults and older children is often easier.

Entrance, Ride Pass and an Easy Food meal on the same day, plus a discount voucher for Little Tivoli.
Book nowDoes the Copenhagen Card give access to Tivoli?
Yes, Copenhagen Card Discover includes Tivoli entrance, but not rides. The same applies to the combination with the hop-on hop-off bus.
Copenhagen Card Discover according to the ad covers entrance to Tivoli and more than 80 attractions as well as public transport in the Copenhagen area. The card is available for 24 - 120 hours and is activated in the app. Children aged 3 to 11 need their own child card. Rides are not included, so if you want to ride, you must buy a Ride Pass or single tickets inside the garden.
The combination with the hop-on hop-off bus gives you 24 hours on the bus with 19 stops and an audio guide in 10 languages, plus Tivoli entrance with re-entry stamp. Here too, rides are not included. Both options are good for a city break where Tivoli is one stop among many, but not for a day focused on the rides.

Are rides included in Tivoli’s Halloween and Christmas tickets?
The Halloween ticket with Ride Pass covers rides, but not the two scary houses. The Christmas ticket gives entrance without rides, even though the contents list mentions Ride Pass.
Two seasonal ads contradict each other. Both the Christmas ticket and a Halloween entrance ticket have a contents list that mentions Ride Pass, food and scary houses, while the ad’s own important information says that rides are not included. Trust the important information and the small print: that is where the ticket conditions are stated.
The ticket with Halloween entrance and Ride Pass is different, as it includes a Ride Pass. However, the Ride Pass does not cover Villa Vendetta and The Haunted House, which require a separate ticket and are for ages 12 and up. Read more in the guide to Halloween in Tivoli og the guide to Christmas in Tivoli.

Halloween entrance and Ride Pass: pumpkins, Halloween market and rides on the same day, scary houses require a separate ticket.
